Hurumanu: Climate Change and the future

Aim; To look at the different ways we can prevent climate change in the future.



What places will be effected?
new area for people to live .


how close the houses on the coastal areas like graymouth
people that can live in new area 
useing less fosil fuils and use electrick car or walk,bike our public transport.

What other places around NZ will be affected?
Tonga,Fiji,cook island and Samoa
people on the coastal area 
What does this do to our drinking water?

What are the main concerns?
there will be much more salt water in our fresh water sources that we drink form.

  1. Use public transport.
  2.  Electric car.
  3.  Solar panels.

What is the one, silver bullet solution?
Nothing cause no scientist is going to figure out a way to get rid of climate change.

What is the mix of things we need to start doing?
  1.   Solar heating.
  2.   Renewable energy.
  3.   Get rid of fossil fuel
What are 3 others you can think of?

  2.    Biking.

Make a title page that incorporates all renewable energy 's Hydro, Solar, Wind and Wave.

Section 2: Definitions

Define and provide a picture of each energy type.

Section 3; Investigate each of the 4 Energy types.
( Hydro ,Solar ,Wind ,Wave )

  4. How is it used to generate electricity?
  5. Draw and label a diagram of the main parts of the electricity generator? This can be done on paper and uploaded or on a drawing program on your device. I do not want any Internet images or pictures. They must be hand drawn using a ruler and labelled.


Section 4: Renewable Energy in the future.

List 10 ways that renewable energy will be used in the future to replace our current activities.

our new kahui buildings

Ki ora
On Monday we got to see out new school building and we got to move into them as our new form class room. our class room is a moari name called Tikeke this name comes from a native bird and the other two class room and named after native birds ass well.

i felt pretty confused on what one was our class room because they all look the same. And even my teachers get confused on which  one is our class room as well. Maybe they should change the colours on the break out wall.

when i walked into our new building they looked cool but they were really identical like they were triplets I had seen our old furniture our new setting area our new break our new break out space were all our other supplies and tote trays that hold all of our gear. and the new science lab and the fake grass out front. and the teacher room that is up stirs.

hurumanu greenhouse effect


AIM: TO LOOK AT CLIMATE CHANGE AND THE GREENHOUSE EFFECT.


    THE GREENHOUSE GASES EXPLAINED.


    The Greenhouse Effect experiment

    Materials

    1. 1 plastic bottle
    2. 1 Teaspoon Baking Soda and Citric Acid                                    
    3. 1 heat lamp
    4. 1 Thermometer
    5. 100 ml water
    6. 1 rubber bung 


    Procedure

    step 1 collect 2 bottles,2 lamp and 2 thermometers from the teacher.

    step 2 set up bottles and lamps beside a power point on a flat surface

    step 3 pour 100ml water and baking soda mixture into one of the bottles

    step 4 start to record your findings taken from both thermometers these must be every five minutes. 





    1. Add 100 mL of water to each of the beakers.
    2. Prepare your lamps. Set them up next to each other with the necks angled so they will just fit over the tops of the bottles. Turn them on so they are ready.
    3. Add Baking Soda mix to one of the beakers, and immediately cover both beakers with cling a rubber bung and thermometer. A tight seal around the edge will work best, and make sure thermometers are left visible so you can record the temperature.
    4. Have students record the starting temperature – it should be the same in both beakers.
    5. Turn the bottles so the thermometer is visible.                             
    6. Record the temperature in both beakers every 5 minutes for 45 minutes or until the temperatures stabilize. At the end, have students answer questions at the bottom of their data sheets.
